What is our Functional Rehab Philosophy?

We utilize all modes of non-invasive therapy (i.e. chiropractic, massage, accupuncture, etc.) and the latest technologies (i.e. electric stimulation, kinseotape, spinal decompression, etc.) available to help restore our patient to wellness.  In addition, we develop and administer customized rehabilitation plans to help our patients return to normal daily activities and develop the strength and stability necessary to prevent future injuries.

As part of our rehabilitation approach at Franklin Park and Gutrich Chiropractic, we utilize the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) developed and refined by Gray Cook (MSPT, OCS, CSCS )to provide effective functional rehabilitation to our patients.  It is based on sound science, years of innovation, and the latest research.

How Does Functional Rehab Work?

As part of this process, we first identify fundamental and functional movement problems that affect balance, mobility, and stability of our patients.  Next, we then develop an exercise and performance program based on the current physiology of our patients.  With the ultimate goal of accelerating the rehabilitation of our patients achieved through chiropractic, massage, and other corrective care (e.g. ice, electric stimulation, spinal decompression, etc.) that we provide to our patients.  Lastly, we continually track progress and identify exercises that will be most effective to restore proper movement and build strength in each individual.

What are the benefits of Functional Rehab?

The FMS simplifies the concept of movement and its impact on the body.  It allows us:

  • Clear Communication:  FMS uses simple language to communicate clearly about progress and effective rehabilitative treatment
  • Quick Evaluation:  FMS identifies asymmetric movement patterns and limitations diminishing the need for extensive testing & analysis
  • Safety: FMS quickly identifies dangerous movement patterns so they can be addressed without undue strain on our patients
  • Standardized Evaluation: FMS creates a functional baseline to mark progress and measure performance
  • Corrective Strategies: FMS can be applied no matter the fitness level of our patients and can be customized based on progress
